Le Bon to do this: Naomi Campbell leads the supermodels on film as they transform into Eighties icons Duran Duran for stunning photoshoot By MARCUS BARNES
3rd November 2011
They may be a little older than their successors on the catwalks of the world, but a group of supermodels prove they can still rock and roll in a new photoshoot with Harper's Bazaar.
Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen, Yasmin Le Bon, Cindy Crawford and Eva Herzigova teamed up for the shoot which sees them transformed into members of Duran Duran.
Each of the five models take a different role in the band, Naomi Campbell, quite predictably, taking pole position as the lead singer.
Dressed in a red velvet suit, the 41-year-old wears her hair similar to Mick Jagger in his heyday. In fact, her guise is modeled on that of her model friend Yasmin's husband, Simon Le Bon.
While Cindy Crawford and Yasmin LeBon flank her with their guitars.
Cindy, 45, plays John Taylor in a matching grey pinstripe waistcoat and trousers handling her bass guitar like a seasoned pro.
Likewise Yasmin, 47, holds her guitar with experience wearing an all-black ensemble including a choker around her neck.
At the back Helena Christensen, 42, takes charge of the drums.
She plays Roger Taylor and is dressed suitably in all-black like her bandmate Yasmin, this time however with her sleeves rolled up in true rock drummer style.
Youngest of the group at 38, Eva Herzigova works the keyboard as Nick Rhodes, looking great in a fitted white suit.
The five ladies also team up for the magazine's front cover in black Dolce & Gabbana corsets, and prove why they're still highly regarded within the fashion industry, their collective age of 203 no reflection on their modeling capabilities.
Styled by Vanessa Coyle, the shoot was done to as part of Duran Duran's latest new music video - in association with Swarovski Elements - for new single Girl Panic.
The project stars the five supermodels in an uber glam promo directed by Jonas Ackerlund, of Lady Gaga's Paparazzi and Telephone (featuring Beyoncé) fame.

And the supers were also joined by designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana at the shoot which took place back in June.
Duran Duran keyboardist Nick Rhodes speaking of the project from New York, where the band have just completed a six week US tour said today: 'Harpers had approached us about collaborating with the magazine on something really special when the new album came out.
'I’d had had this crazy idea for a video for the song Girl Panic!, that looked fantastic on paper, but that I thought in reality would be impossible to pull off.
'The idea was to recreate a day-in-the-life of the band, with five of the world’s greatest supermodels playing all of us. Lucy loved the idea of doing a cover shoot within the video itself – and so it all began.'
Lead singer Simon Le Bon added: 'We have made some pretty ambitious videos over the years, but this one was certainly the most challenging to date.
'Coordinating the schedules of five of the world’s biggest super models, Jonas, and the band was no easy task – but we couldn’t be happier with the finished film.
'It has all of the ingredients that we feel are important – it’s humorous, glamorous, sexy and very Duran Duran.'
The video for Girl Panic is expected to be serialised virally online before premiering in whole later this year.http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/ar ... shoot.html
